NEVADA, USA 01/09/2009: International DNA testing firm easyDNA has reported a large upturn in demand for its advanced DNA forensic testing services since launching the service earlier in the year.
Non-standard samples cannot be tested using laboratories set up for standard DNA samples from mouth swabs, but require sophisticated extraction techniques involving state of the art equipment to extract the DNA from samples such as a single strand of hair.
The new advanced services offered by easyDNA are additional to the forensic analysis already supplied by the company on nail clippings, hair, toothbrushes and blood or semen stains, and enables DNA to be extracted and analyzed with a high degree of sensitivity and accuracy from very small, old or degraded samples that other would not have been viable.
When prospective clients request the advanced DNA forensic services, a discussion is first carried out with them on the type of samples available and what the objective of the test is. The various options available can then be discussed, and the client finally provided with the possible alternatives to enable them to make an informed decision on how they wish to proceed.
When asked about the public’s response to the new service, International Director of Sales and Marketing, Andrew Alexander, commented, “On the whole the response from our clients has been excellent since not everybody is able to provide us with standard samples. Many have old or degraded samples or even just a single hair that they found, and they appreciate that trying to extract and analyze DNA from samples such as these could result in the loss of the sample if the results are poor. Rather than lose the chance of them getting a result they would rather pay the extra cost for the advanced analysis.”
The quality systems applied by easyDNA have been audited and approved to the international quality standard ISO 17025 and meet the requirements of the AABB, thus guaranteeing the quality of our DNA testing services. All testing is carried out to the highest possible levels of accuracy using state of the art analytical equipment allowing the highest level of genetic identification accuracy. We provide DNA Relationship testing, DNA Paternity Testing and DNA Forensic Testing to both the public and private sectors through a network of 16 worldwide regional offices.
